You're asking yourself..."So what
do these people actually do??"
We formally meet once a month; generally
to listen to a speaker or presentation on some
parrot/bird related
topic. We also have a raffle table with bird related items, some snacks
and just then just socialize with each other.
On the
other
Sundays of the month an informal group meets to socialize and exercise our
birds in the large meeting room. Those birds that fly are encouraged to do so.
Those that
don't fly are still welcome to socialize. Please read our
"Rules" page before coming to
check
us out.
We also have a dedicated core of people who enjoy
constructing the OBF Float to enter into
three local parades. Each
year we seem to draw even more attention and awards. See our
"Event"
pages for pictures of the fun.
We support charitable causes with
donations of club money. Some past recipients have
been Texas A&M for
avian disease research, Dr. Ritchie at the University of Georgia for
avian disease research, The Indonesian Parrot Project for conservation and
preservation
of parrots and habitat, Bob Dawson's Macaw & Amazon
Sanctuary, West Sound Wildlife for
care and rehab of local wild life.
We are also invited to have an educational booth at the Kitsap County Fair every
year.
From there we can reach countless bird owners and prospective
owners. We problem
solve, share stories and share our love for birds.
There's a level of involvement to fit every individual or lifestyle!
